Our Story

Long Term Market Participant

Over the past 29 years we have developed in-depth market expertise and knowledge. Our unique business model has allowed ORIX Aviation to continuously grow and generate strong profitability.

Since entering into our first Japanese Operating Lease over 20 years ago, we have continued to build a firm reputation in this niche market. In the last five years alone, we have sold US$6 billion worth of aircraft to over 100 Japanese Operating Lease investors. We continue to manage these aircraft following sale and have a number of repeat Japanese investors.

We have also established a strong track record of successful joint ventures and bespoke asset management solutions, working closely with US funds and private equity firms for over 15 years. We provide leading asset management services and remarketing capabilities to our Joint Venture partners and asset management clients.

In November 2018, we acquired a 30% stake in Avolon, a top three ranking lessor, for US$2.2 billion of equity. This investment demonstrates our long-term confidence in and commitment to the industry. Our combined AUM for ORIX Aviation’s fleet and 30% investment in Avolon exceeds US$17 billion.

In FY 2020, we executed US$3.8 billion in aircraft transactions. We have doubled the number of aircraft in our fleet over the past 7 years.
